Wolf Hill Garden Center is proudly a family-owned and operated business.

Our story

Est. 1978

In 1978, Jim and John McKechnie, two entrepreneurial brothers, embarked on a journey in the world of landscaping. Identifying a need within the Cape Ann community, they expanded their horizons by establishing a garden center in Gloucester, MA, nurtured by the support of their family and friends. This venture blossomed further with a second location in Ipswich, MA, in 1998. As the years passed, the mantle of responsibility shifted to their children, ensuring the family's legacy in the business. While the landscaping division has gracefully concluded, the thriving Garden Centers in both Gloucester and Ipswich continue under the devoted care of the next generation and a team of loyal, dedicated employees.

  • "They just delivered me a cord of kiln dried wood. It was excellent! Their service is prompt and the price was very competitive. I will use them again."

  • "After comparing other nurseries in the area, these are my favorite by far. Helpful staff, beautiful and healthy plants, easy to navigate, and comparable prices. Friends in the area have said they thought wolf hill was overpriced. I found them to have plants priced the same, and even lower!, than the other nurseries within 10 miles."

  • "Wonderful home and garden center off of Route 1. Lots of varieties of plants and patio furniture. Picked up geraniums for our windowsill planter. Staff very lovely and helped me find the size of fertilizer I wanted. A gem!"
